Still Life Goa: Preparation
Still Life Goa: Preparation

An ongoing photographic series by Natasha Sood & Daniel D’Souza, Still Life Goa reframes the textures and rituals of Goan life, one quiet composition at a time.
Preparation evokes the slow hush of an evening snack ritual. Three glistening mackerel rest on a glass platter, their arrangement deliberate, almost reverent. A green chilli leans like punctuation against the wall, while a lime and a scattering of sea salt hint at flavour soon to unfold. A glass of feni catches the fading light, clear, strong, quietly celebratory.
This is not just mise en place, it’s mise en mood. The quiet clink of a fork on ceramic, the first sip of something fermented, the promise of fried fish crackling on a nearby stove.
A still life that toasts to the Goan aperitivo.
